The 38 million project aims to transform the existing stadium into a modern football venue, increasing its capacity from 5,350 to 11,163 fully covered seats.

Construction work has recently begun and is expected to take approximately 18 months, with completion scheduled for the end of 2026.

The new stadium will fully comply with UEFA Category 4 standards, enabling it to host high-level football matches from tournaments such as the Champions League, Europa League, and Conference League.

The contract involves a complete reconstruction of the existing stadium as well as featuring a heated hybrid pitch, modern press rooms, and all the amenities expected of a contemporary stadium. Additionally, it will incorporate energy-efficient solutions, full accessibility for people with disabilities, and state-of-the-art multimedia and security systems.

“We are honoured to have been selected by the City of Zagreb to execute this landmark project. Having recently been awarded the contract for the modernisation of a 50 km section of the Istrian railway line between Buzet and Sveti Petar u Šumi or the elderly care facility in Drniš, to name just two of our current Croatian projects, this new contract once again demonstrates our wide range of expertise for all project types and sizes, said Alfred Watzl, member of the Executive Board of Strabag SE.
